My portable AC stopped working “normally”, but still works fine mechanically when it wants to work. It seems the problem is with the controls, so I assumed the “control board/panel” that promised to “have my unit working like new”, would be what I needed and take care of the problem. The problem is, it didn’t, and the unit starts blowing the fan but before the compressor can start up, it shuts down and gives me a “Ft” code on the display. And the only way I know the unit still is mechanically sound, is occasionally but intermittently and unpredictably, after being unplugged for days, when plugged in, it will work fine for sometimes the whole day, but before eventually giving the “Ft” code and shutting down again. Trying to take the next step in ID’ing and troubleshooting the problem, I put a new remote control and the next control board in my cart. But before I could check out, it now says they are not available. Idk how I’m supposed to deal with this, if this unit is obsolete or not but don’t want to dump a unit that I know can still work. I just need the right control part but if not on the manufacturers site, what’s a person supposed to do? Come on manufacturers! Support your products! Without repair shops or authorized service providers available, people count on you to provide the parts we need to keep going. Or is the takeaway that we need to stick to brands with service providers in place?
